Fosam, Fosroc's joint venture in Saudia Arabia was commissioned to inspect the condition of the concrete and steel berth structures, originally constructed in 1983

Since the port's construction, deterioration set in as a result of galvanic corrosion
of steel reinforcement, accelerated by the salty environment, and causing significant revenue losses
and decreasing asset value

The port was due to be sold to a private buyer and the requirement was to sell with
a guaranteed future operating design life

Specifically, Fosroc was required to identify the problems and specific causes,
determine the degree of deterioration and design a comprehensive solution to repair
and ensure performance and durability

the additional durability, enabling active protection for in excess of 25 years

There was no lost berthing time during implementation
